About Me

Hello

I’m Alana & I love drawing, painting, photography & being creative – that is what you will find right here!

I grew up in beautiful NZ & I currently live in Queensland, Australia. I moved here after completing a 4 year Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

I love pattern & colour & anything influenced by nature. I always find myself doodling/drawing the same little leaf patterns – which is where the name ‘The Little Leaf’ came from.

This blog is about doing what I love & being inspired & motivated by all you talented people on the way!

New Reader? Here are some of my favourite posts:

* 5 Days of Flower Drawings

* NZ Holiday Skeleton Leaves

* An Old Bridge – Bluff NZ

* The Flower & the Ladybird

* Shoot it, Sketch it – Purple Flower

Enjoy Alana xx

  1. Hey Alana, thank you for following my blog. I’m following yours too! I love your Macro photography – some day soon I’ll be buying myself a macro lens so I can really get into this area of photography as it is my favourite! Your sketching and painting is stunning. I am an amature watercolour painter but unfortunately I don’t get much time to work because of my studies. Overall I would like to thank you for making me excited and enthusiastic to get into my art again and to better my photography. Your creativity and skill is wonderful!

  2. Wonderful creatives – I sense a love for the color blue. You have a nice collection of drawings and paintings. Looking forward to exploring more of your blog. Thanks for visiting my blog!

  3. I really love your blog! it is so beautiful and it has inspired me to keep up with my drawing, and also to keep up my blogging :) and thank you so much for the visit and the follow!

  5. Hello Alana, thanks for visiting The Naturephile and liking it enough to press the ‘Follow’ button. You’re my first follower from NZ so it’s really good to meet you. I’m looking forward to keeping up with your blog too, you have some beautiful photographs and drawings and designs. A rare talent indeed!

  6. I like it – a blog that combines photography with other media to portray images. You’re following in the footsteps of the Impressionists, who created their style during the growth of early photography. And you live in a part of the world where you’re surrounded by unique subjects. I definitely want to see more of your work.

  7. Hi. I stopped by to say thank you for visiting and clicking “like” on my most recent post. But I had to stay and look at your work. It is truly magnificent! God has blessed you with great talent. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  8. Greetings, Alana. I am really enjoying your site – your artwork is understated, a quality I happen to like very much. And I see you are a kiwi, too! I think you visited my website before, but I lost track of you somehow. Thanks for visiting again. I noticed today you have followed a blog that I do not use at the present. Several people have and I don’t know how they are finding it, but let me give you the link to my current site:

Great work, Alana, I’ll be back!

  9. Your blog (and others I have visited) show me that you lived in a beautiful part of the world. I’m gonna have to put it on my wishlist of places to visit :-)
Thanks for the visit and the Like.

  10. Thanks for following my blog! I like what you’re doing combining drawing and painting—great stuff. I look forward to doing more exploring on your blog.

  11. Thank you for the like on my post (Learning Patience from Flower Petals)!
I really love the work you’re doing here on your blog. You have a great talent- and in more than one medium! I’m glad you found me so I could find you. :)

  12. Thanks for ‘liking’ my ‘Lambing Season’ and so introducing me to your site. Rather like you, I have a particular interest in abstract and non-figurative picture-making but I also try to capture the seasonal changes. I’ve enjoyed my first visit and will be back – very soon!

  13. Awesome hun, get those creative juices flowing, still have many of your bits and pieces from your time at Art School and can’t wait to see what else you produce xx
